548344 2007-05-08 11:17:00 Or a MacBook considering how old the G4 iBook is (circa 2001) - With Motorola chip.

IBM never put a G5 chip in the laptop because it ran too hot. Apple went from the Moto G4 chip to Intel with the first MacBook.

Noone ever said that Apple didn't make mistakes. Any time that humans are involved with writing software or making hardware, there is always going to be room for error. That is why companies have Q&A programs to catch the stuff before it gets to market (most of the time).

I seem to remember a reasonable number of Xboxes going up in flames due to over heating....

548348 2007-05-25 09:40:00 Didn't Microsoft bought Apple (to avoid lawsuit?!)??

Microsoft invested about $150 million in Apple common stock(no voting rights) back in 1997 as well as agreeing to continue to develop IE for Mac at about the same time. Microsoft sold the stock for a hefty return some time after that.

No Microsoft didn't bought Apple. At today's stock price(AAPL) Microsoft couldn't afford them :D

The lawsuit bought on by the US DOJ had more to do with Microsoft illegally bundling IE with Windows and using its Operating System monopoly to force the various competition out of business circa 1995.

548351 2007-05-25 12:11:00 Did you read the article? Turns out the fault was a stressed solder joint that flexed ever time the power button was pressed and eventually fatigued. echothreezero (6612)
548352 2007-05-25 12:15:00 Ah sorry, yes I did. It was an old article. The iBook went out of production a while back. winmacguy (3367)
