548632 2007-05-16 06:08:00 Is the button cell properly in its socket? The positive pole faces up (and it's the full diameter of the cell); the negative pole is the small diameter one, and faces down. Graham L (2)

548634 2007-05-17 05:49:00 The usual cause is a dead button cell, Trevor. In this case, I do suspect that the new cell has been put in upside down. That won't damage the computer, but it will certainly stop the hardware clock. Graham L (2)
548635 2007-05-19 00:47:00 i also hsve the same kind of problem...and i didint replaced the batteries with new ones...istead i left the computer powered on overnight...and after the next system boot(like after 8 hours) clock is not resetting... jonkimnicko (10061)
548636 2007-05-19 02:31:00 Did it start doing this suddenly? or has it been like it for some time.
The only other cause I can think of, apart from a flat battery, is the CMOS link on the motherboard is missing or gone high resistance.
You could have a look and if it is there, slide the link up and down a couple of times on the pins. Just to eliminate this possibility.
