548570 2007-05-09 09:49:00 Check out home.eunet.no for resetting the administrator password.

Thats what I used, it didnt work.

Failing that if there is nothing on the machine you want I'd blow away all the partitions using one of the partition managers on http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ and then install from scratch :-)

I'll check this out . Ta :) Err maybe not, not when I'm on dialup.

548571 2007-05-09 09:49:00 May be if you can edit the boot.ini file, in there might be the selection of the data recovery partition. They might have decreased the delay to 0 for that boot menu to show up. kennie (10559)
548572 2007-05-09 10:23:00 I could possibly get hold of a recovery disc for that model if you like.

A mate had a problem with one not so long ago and had to get HP to send out a recovery disc. Just can't remember if it was the nx6320 or nx6325.

That'll be good!

Why this thing doesnt have an F key to do it (like any other), I dont know!

I've tried this nusrmgr.cpl thing which is meant to be on the CD (its in I386), but its got a - or _ (I think it has to be extracted) at the end of it and doesnt work. No matter how hard u try!

I've just tried net user in a command prompt, it brings up a system 5 error (whatever that is).

Well, I've tried everything I can think of! And it hasnt done a thing!

548574 2007-05-09 11:49:00 If you can get into the BIOS, there should be an option about native SATA mode or similar. If you disable it, the BIOS will trick any OS into thinking the drive is an IDE one. This would (hopefully) allow XP install to see the 60 GB partition.
Then again, maybe it wont make any difference...

548575 2007-05-09 11:57:00 Nope nothing whatsoever in the BIOS as far as I can see. Only the boot options, and what order you can boot whatever in..

And a few other options, but none for the SATA.

548576 2007-05-09 12:07:00 You should be able to initiate the restore from the boot screen.

What do you mean locked down? You can go into safe mode and log in as machine administrator can't you?

Actually I was wrong, I forgot to press fn and F8 on the kb lol. There is safe mode. So, what should I be looking for once I get in it?

548577 2007-05-09 12:34:00 Hmm somehow, I think this PC was on a domain. Its got a domain name under system properties / Computer.

That'll probably make a diff.

548578 2007-05-09 13:33:00 Looks like I fixed it, I had to log into Admin first then add the other user as Admin, she was there but under Aspnet, which obviously hasnt got anything to do with Admin. Speedy Gonzales (78)
