548277 2007-05-08 10:31:00 So bad news is that I live to far away from an exchange to get broadband...good news is.....was......my dialup connection was pretty fast...ALWAYS at around 52Kbps. But not anymore.....

The wife decided that telecom sucked....especially when World Exchange rang and told us they could reduce our phone bill by half. Now for some reason our connection is only half as good as it used to be at best. 33Kbps most of the time. Could it be because we use World Exchange for our tolls or is that just co-incidence. Dying to get broadband but can't really afford the cost of sat.

Any hints on how to tell whats affecting our dialup.

NT.

If you are too far from the exchange to get broadband, your dialup wouldn't have really been 52kbps. Most likely your modem has finally decided to tell the truth.

Go back to Telecom and see if your speeds go back to what they were. If that doesn't help then return to your new provider. I doubt there's any penalty for swapping month by month between providers.

At the end of the day better Internet speeds are worth the few bucks you have to pay, in my opinion.
