548112 2007-05-07 23:13:00 I doubt it, go to Parnell, there's a WI-FI thing round there somewhere.

And its free.

Or network whatever they've got to your PC.

Since you're on the net.

548113 2007-05-07 23:16:00 Try the Chancery area in the lower CBD where all the lawyers hangout during their lunch breaks. I am not sure if Starbuck's cafes also have free Wi Fi and some BP service station Wi Fi Hotspots.

Note: If using WiFi in a public area, make sure you have suitable password enabled protection or encryption on your PC to save others snooping around your system without your knowledge - commonly known as "wardriving" or something.

548114 2007-05-07 23:21:00 Pretty sure most ISP's will give you a dialup account almost straight away which could then simply be cancelled after the month. Try Slingshot. Or you could give the relatives access to your own dialup account details which they can use from any phone line. That's probably the simplest. Greg (193)

548116 2007-05-07 23:39:00 THKS for the suggestions guys

mum lives by Botany that's east AKL and I'm in Ellerslie central AKL

so networking the PC's is a bit out of the question:D and going into town to use the Wifi is probably a bit far

however The suggestion re giving m dial up is not bad

I'm with Xnet and they give u a dial up to use I wonder if u can use both at the same time from 2 different locations????

and yes mummy not a PC user

This may only apply if ADSL isnt working. I think most ISP's give u the dialup option, in case ADSL dies.

Somehow, I dont think you can use dialup somewhere else, if ADSL is working.

548120 2007-05-07 23:53:00 I've got a mate whose with slingshot and he uses dial up and adsl like that.. so maybe it would work.
The ISP wouldnt lose out at all cause your still paying for both, if you use the dual up anyway.
