548133 2007-05-07 23:02:00 Anyone having problems with not being able to load files onto these when they are only half full. Always getting a "unable to create file" or 'access denied'.
Write protect is off. I would put it down to a faulty disk ---- but its on two different disks bought a year apart and on two different computers.
Info already on them reads no problem.

548134 2007-05-08 04:19:00 You are probably running into the maximum file count problem. It's designed into the file system, but easily avoided. The number of entries in the root (top level) directory of any disk partition is fixed.

Just create a subdirectory, and put your files into that. The directory of a subdirectory is "just a file" in the top level directory, and can be expanded as needed.

You'll notice that digital cameras (and MP3, etc, players) put the data files in subdirectories.
