549137 2007-05-11 09:39:00 Hi all,

This is my first time using this website :D but my problem is not so chipper.

What do you think the problem could be???

1. all of a sudden it shut down (it was a very cold morning, been on stand by)
2. restarts, but can't get past the initial window's load up screen. it just restarts and again, can't get past the initial windows load up screen. then it restarts..... and does the same.

I have tired to boot in safe mood, however, again, it does the same. Shuts down on the windows load up screen.

What do you think the problem could be??

it's an HP, runs Windows XP

549141 2007-05-11 20:12:00 Do you have the CD.You could try booting with that in place and use the repair option. It must be your CD tho that u installed from. You are in the right place here on PF1 and someone will come up with a solution. kjaada (253)

Because Automatically Restart is ticked (by default). So it keeps trying instead of stopping and displaying a BSOD.
Which is a pity as the BSOD error would give us/you an indication of what the problem is.

DId you install something just before it happened? Hardware or software?
If hardware take it out.

If software, well, a system restore could help, but you need to be able to run it.

You could try doing a repair install.

Boot off the CD, choose Enter to Install at the first prompt screen, then choose R to Repair and the 2nd promt screen.

It won't lose any of your data or settings.
