2007-05-11 03:15:00 | Is anyone else having problems with recorded data usage on IHUG? I am on a Broadband Lite programme which allows me 10GB off peak and 10GB peak usage a month. (Peak time is from 2.00am - 10.00am). When I checked my usage on IHUG a short while ago I noted that I was supposed to have used over half a gig in peak time but nothing off peak today. I hardly used my PC for the Internet after 10.00am but had used it for downloading, etc. prior to 10.00am. I rang the IHUG help desk to check and didn't get a particularly helpful reply - "other customers have complained about the same thing .... I suggest you go to Google and download a Bandwidth Recorder to check your usage .... If your Internet connection starts running slowly, ring us back with your recorded bandwidth usage and we will give you more allowance ..." He was very vague about the "Bandwidth Recorder", had no suggestions as to any particular brand and I am somewhat confused. Is anyone able to recommend a Bandwith Recorder (preferably free) that I could download - or offer any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

2007-05-11 07:04:00 | Get Tautology Bandwidth Meter from here: homepages.paradise.net.nz I've been using it for nearly 2-3 years and is very good. Small and made by a NZ'er as well I think.

2007-05-11 09:12:00 | Yes their bandwidth usage meter is STUFFED since at least the 10th of last month. Mine yesterday had recorded 1.7 gig for this month so far. Upon checking it again today they had changed the readings for the 6th of May for that day it now read 1.7 gigs! and total was now 3 gigs... Its time the commerce Commision forced them to audit their usage software. One wonders how many people are totally unaware of the issue. How much $ does Ihug save from not fixing this...

2007-05-11 10:03:00 | Thanks for your helpful replies. I know that their Usage details were not available for most of this month so far. Looks like I'll just have to watch carefully and complain bitterly if my usgae exceeds the allowable data and my connection speed drops back to dial-up. I will give the Bandwidth meter a go and just not use my second computer for a few days. It will be interesting to see how my figures compare with what they say I am using. | allcamp (1882) | |

2007-05-12 02:32:00 | Yep, I got the auto email last night saying we'd gone over the 20GB limit and were being charged $2/GB, and when I went to login to check their my account system wasn't working. Anyway, I managed to login in this morning and apparently we didn't surf the net at all between 1-3 May and between 4-6 May we used in excess of 10GB each day (each day since then seemed to be normal)! Total rubbish, we're on at least every day and certainly not downloading that amount of material. Out of curiosity I went back to view last month's data usage and according to that we only surfed the net on the 11th and 12th of April but not any other days that month :p Totally just under half a GB of usage, again - total rubbish. I've emailed ihug promptly this morning requesting it be looked into - as I wonder if all the usage from April has been dumped into my May period.

2007-05-12 04:03:00 | Yesterday when I could finally check my useage I had not used much at all over the period that the meter was unavailable but I have just rechecked and I am way over on my Peak useage and minimal on my off peak.I think somehow Ihug has to get its act together or should we all consider alternatives.Just as an asside, does off peak cover all weekend as well or are the times for peak-off peak 7 days a week. | kjaada (253) | |
