548950 2007-05-12 05:31:00 And on top of that you have an import entry transaction fee of $22, so that makes it around $553, but it is the full version which is what i need :)

What Import entry fee?? First time I've heard of this..

548952 2007-05-13 04:13:00 Since the customs charge includes a "Biosecurity risk screening levy", you run the risk of having the consignment confiscated and destroyed. Can you guaratee that it contains no bugs? Graham L (2)

Nothing there about computer software. Computers are duty free.. though for some strange reason video tapes recorded have a 6.5% duty but nothing about DVDs

548955 2007-05-13 07:26:00 I have just imported Vista, Office 2007 and Visio Pro direct from the US.
They are all fine as to version and functionality.

As I was able to "purchase" directly from MS, and MS also paid the shipping, GST did not come into it as the cost was "media and packaging only".

And no, I cannot supply anyone else ...

548956 2007-05-13 09:06:00 Ask a close friend in US to buy Vista and ask him to email you the product key, no shipping, no import charges, all you have to do is to find a vista dvd here. SKT174 (1319)
548957 2007-05-14 03:02:00 While I was still living in the Philippines, I bought a copy of WinXP.Pro expressly for bringing back to NZ which at the time with the exchange rate, cost me less than NZD100.

It is what the computer shop that I bought it from called a Philippine Version but it installed ok here and updates no problem. Though it is a Pinoy version, it is in English. The computer shop questioned me as to where it was going to be installed and warned that the Philippine Version could only be installed in the Philippines but didn't say why. They suggested that I seek out a International Version that they didn't stock.

Probably no different from installing a Chinese or Japanese language copy of Windows on a NZ Computer.

Yes, you could do that... and just download a copy from the torrents, it will be legal too cause you would have purchased a copy and have a legit CD key ;)

But what is the person in the US going to do with the discs? just seems a waste paying for the product and not having authentic DVDs to show for it... but that is just me and my :2cents:

EDIT: Nigel, I have just looked at the Fair Go thread and LOL!! at dick smith well dick being censored
