| 549333 | 2007-05-12 03:56:00 | Right, I've got all the bits (see this (www.pressf1.co.nz) post), and assembled them. I power on and all the fans start, the floppy and DVD lights flicker, but nothing appears on the monitor. I would expect all the POST stuff to appear. No beeps, just nothing. I can't tell if there is any HDD activity - I guess I would expect there to be none. It is on-board video. I can't see a reference anywhere, but might there be a jumper to set or something? (This thread post copied from "Let's build a PC" on ChatF1) |

EDIT: and are you sure the RAM and CPU is inserted properly and all heatsinks on properly with thermal paste, nothing shorting out? Did you put the little spacers on the mobo screws? |

| 549335 | 2007-05-12 04:08:00 | It could just be the monitor, are you sure that you've a. plugged the power lead in at both ends, b. connected the monitor cable from the back of the monitor to the back of the comp, c. switched the monitor power switch (on the front of the monitor) on? If the floppy disc etc spins (you can hear it whirring) then it sounds like the comp is starting, running a bios check etc. No Post beeps when you start up sounds suspect and does the HD light (on the front of the comp) flick on and off? |
