549107 2007-05-11 08:51:00 i got a lap top the other other day and there was no option to change os so ive been using

vista business for now.
its an asus model with a built in web cam, i went to activate it while checking through

things and i cant have had teh drivers installed and vitsa has crashed.
it keeps loading a page with to options
1 launch startup repair (which just brings me back to the same page without doing anything

)
2 launch windows normally which takes me to the "crash screen" tells me there is a
BAD_POOL_CALLER and starts colleting data for a crash dump ten restarts and takes me back

to the same page i havent been able to get it into safe mode, what should i do ? (other than rip hair out in frustration :P)

549109 2007-05-11 12:11:00 You need to check your RAM. Vista is really exacting to the memory quality. Blacky (12247)
549110 2007-05-11 13:36:00 it was definatly a driver problem (well it ran fine for 2-3 days before this anyway)
anyway i finally got it to show bios page but hitting del every second after turning it on booted it in safe mode and it came up with usb201 ect web cam then options to install drivers

so i installed the drivers and the warning went away after doing a quick check around everything seemed fine so i tried to start it out of safe mode

now im getting a message saying "operating sysytem missing" i have a recovery disk but not sure how to make it load it ?

549111 2007-05-11 21:24:00 See if this helps (support.microsoft.com)

Is the recovery disk on the hdd or cd/dvd?

If its a partition on the hdd, u press one of the function keys (might be F2/F10/F11/F12) to activate it when u boot up.

What kind of hard drive is in it? IDE or SATA??

I know with SATA if u use a molex adaptor for the power, they can be pretty flaky and come out quite easily. I found this out. So, brought a PSU with a SATA connector on it. That solved it.
