We use ours for text only b/w and 600dpi is plenty, for drafts we down it to 300 to save some toner. They are pretty cheap these days, unless you want used which can be good if you are after multiple paper trays ones. For color, I have a inkjet photo printer. |

You do know it is Laser, not Lazer don't you? HP make the best home laser printers IMO |

Cheers I used to have a brother when I had a computer with windows 95. They however never updated the drivers to work with windows 98 and newer versions. Therefore it had a very limited life. I doubt older brother printers, say pre 2000 will work with vista. Also I think you have to replace the drums on brother printers when they get old, and this is very expensive. HP lasers have the drum as part of the cartrdige. |

| 549887 | 2007-05-15 02:13:00 | I have a CANON MP750 for colour scanning/printing and CD printing and a BROTHER HL1430 LASER as my workhorse. The 1/2 capacity toner supplied from new (3000 pages, lasted 2 years) I now have a 6000 page toner and I suspect that by the time it is empty, I will be replacing the printer so unless you are a hi volume user, why bother with an expensive printer. | Tony.br (4018) | ||
