| 549796 | 2007-05-14 15:31:00 | Bought a new HP notebook with Vista 2 weeks ago and was recommended by the retailer to buy the Vodafone Vodem so I could guarantee having internet access while on my business trip to the UK . Got home to find that Vodem does not work with Vista, surprise surprise! Was assured by retailer that a patch would be available in the next couple of days, so left for UK thinking I would be able to get modem connection . HOW WRONG . . !! I visited several Vodafone retailers in London, Newcastle & Edinburgh but all I got told was ''a fix is on it's way'' . The Vodafone web site was still saying a patch would be available by the end of April and only changed it from April to May on 10th May . Isn't it amazing - two of the largest companies in the world and they can't get their act together!!! Despite the Consumer Protection Act where what you buy should be able to achieve what you want etc . . . Vodafone still haven't informed their retailers that their product doesn't work . Hence I spent the first 10 days of this trip only being able to access the internet when I could get onto someone else's WiFi! The worst part of this sorry saga is the fact that NO-ONE from Vodafone has offered us an alternative solution - HOWZAT for customer care? Have any of you guys got a solution? |

Sounds like your retailer should be lined up against a wall as well for recommending and selling a solution that does not work. Might be some financial comeback for you there.... |

| 549800 | 2007-05-14 23:01:00 | What date did you buy the Vodem? Geekzone had news of the Vista update for Vodems on 24/4. Vodafone were stuffing around with organising a download page but your store should have been able to sort it. www.geekzone.co.nz www.vodafone.co.nz |

I have heard quite a few compliants about vodems not working with vista . The most surprising thing, is that Vists Betas have been out for years, so there shouldn't be any excuse by vodafone not having a patch on day one . You are entitled to a refund under the sale of goods act and the CGA, as it is not fit for it's intended purpose, in being usable on a new PC with the most upto date software . |
