549780 2007-05-14 10:17:00 I've got Avast and it seems to be taking a lot of my bandwidth according to Comodo, usually upto 80-85% leaving very little for FF and IE but as soon as I disable Avast, both IE, FF and Joost too speed up.

Is there a way of making Avast take up less bandwidth without having to turn it off every 10 mins?

549781 2007-05-14 10:44:00 Avast Web Shield seems to be a transparent proxy for all HTTP traffic so the 80-85% of your bandwidth is FF or IE going through Avast. PaulD (232)
549782 2007-05-14 12:01:00 ah, so its normal traffic but Comodo just sees it as Avast using the web? Comodo calls it: ashWebsv.exe beeswax34 (63)
549783 2007-05-14 20:20:00 Or click on the a in the taskbar / right mouse select on-access protection control.

Select web shield and terminate it. It will slow browsers down, as it scans every site u go to.

Which is what it does.
