550554 2007-05-17 04:16:00 My daughter has been given a new wireless mouse and keyboard for her computer which is approx 11 months old, running XP. A Mercury, and I guess that should say it all! She wanted me to install the above, but as I wasn't sure how reliable they are, so I hestitated till I could check here. She is not very computer literate, and I live over 30 minutes drive away. Any comments anyone? supergran (108)
550555 2007-05-17 04:20:00 I haven't heard of many people having problems with wireless mice or keyboards Supergran. winmacguy (3367)
550556 2007-05-17 04:39:00 I thought wireless mice and keyboards were obsolete. Haven't heard much about them lately.

By a battery(?) factory first though.

550557 2007-05-17 04:39:00 Just buy rechargeable batteries, or else you'll be without either until u buy some more batteries. Speedy Gonzales (78)
550558 2007-05-17 05:02:00 My wireless mouse's battery last a day of full use, Which is fine there is always another charged up ready :D (Logitech G7 the most amazing mouse in the world) The_End_Of_Reality (334)
550559 2007-05-17 05:41:00 Have used a Wireless Keyboard and Mouse for sometime now, mine includes a charger as well. Goes well, no problems. I have personally found no real advantage using the wireless keyboard but the wireless mouse has its advantages with no cable to drag around the mousepad. PinoyKiw (9675)
550560 2007-05-17 07:34:00 My Microsoft Desktop's batteries havent had to be changed since December so they are reliable. (4-5 hours of use a day) beeswax34 (63)
550561 2007-05-17 07:42:00 You're worrying about the wrong part.

Keep the KB, mouse and ditch the Mercury.

550562 2007-05-17 08:22:00 LOL PCtek, I already told her to get rid of the Mercury!

Thanks everyone, that sets my mind at rest a little, so guess I will go into town and install it for her, once she owns some rechargeable batteries.

550563 2007-05-17 21:07:00 Should work OK as long as she doesn't want to have multiboot partions. I have one here on a PC at work and it's drivers don't kick in until the OS boots so any boot loaders are rendered useless.. paulw (1826)
