| 550184 | 2007-05-16 08:17:00 | I have a new PC on the way and I am going to have to transfer files etc. from old machine. My intention is to put the hard disk from old machine close enough to attach sata and power from new box. then drag and drop or copy and paste. Is there any reason this will not work? |

It rather depends on which files you want to transfer. If you want to transfer from XP SP2 to the same O/S you could use the files and settings transfer wizard. Your new PC may be running Vista. I would not know. The files I would transfer would be any data you have created. This includes (in my case):- Documents. Favorites. Outlook.pst All downloads. Pictures. Music. I have CDs/DVDs for everything else. Your mileage may vary. Be careful. |
