549888 2007-05-15 02:03:00 Using this "wonderful" browser, for a while after ugrading from IE 6. Now in IE 6 you were able to go file\save to desktop\ for a shortcut with the websites icon (for example MS had a M logo for an icon). Now IE 7 seems to lack this and i save the page as a .mht and i get that ugly IE logo. is there a way like ie6 to get the website logo, (lke google wud hav a G) without resorting to something like another browser? aidanmaz (7180)
549889 2007-05-15 04:44:00 Unfortunately this is impossible, you'll need to resort to another (getfirefox.com) browser (http:) ;P

btw, I did a quick check in IE7 if there was a solution but couldn't get it working the way you described. Also, an .MHT file is not a shortcut, rather a downloaded web page with the page assets (images, css and scripts, etc) consolidated to one file by way archiving or "zipping".

Yeap. easy as pie.

Right click anywhere on the page (not on a link though) click create shortcut. As long as the page has a picture, and is fully loaded, it will appear on your desktop looking very sexy. Thats the one thing i hate about firefox is its not as easy as IE7 to do this - creata a shortcut on the desktop.

It's even easier to create shortcuts on the desktop in either browser. Just click and drag the icon next to the URL in the address/location bar to the desktop, or wherever you want.

However, I tried what you said earlier and it still didnt use the favicon as the desktop icon for the shortcut link. I'm using IE7 in Vista so that might be why...
