2007-05-17 06:04:00 | Just got an email from the MICROSOFT CONNECT TEAM regarding my MICROSOFT CONNECT PROFILE which starts off with "Dear Microsoft Connect Registered User. Dunno what all that's about. The email site is MSFTNCONN@MICROSOFT.COM (all lower case). Do Microsoft send you emails? From what I have read they don't and shouldn't be opened. Is this email kosher or what? I have left it sitting in MailWasher until I know exactly what this is all about as I can't recall anything about entering my "profile" as they call it. Without opening the email I can't and wont put it on the forum but it basically talks about accessing my profile & updating personal details. Am I smelling a rat or just being paranoid"? It also shows in MailWasher as being in my "friends" list but I can't see that particular domain as a friends site, possibly could if I opened OE but am reluctant to do so. Regards Gordon.

2007-05-17 06:10:00 | They have never sent me one, and judging by a number of articles that I have read like this one from the BBC Malware 'hijacks Windows Updates' news.bbc.co.uk \It is probably dodgy trojan carrying SPAM!

2007-05-17 06:58:00 | Have you ever attended a Microsoft event, say TechEd, or similar? You register as a "Microsoft Connect" member to get your e-invitation etc, hence that could be legit. | somebody (208) | |
2007-05-17 07:03:00 | Why bother? I doubt if they are offering to give you money. At the best they will want more information about you that they can sell. | Graham L (2) | |
2007-05-17 07:05:00 | Yup that's it Speedy but a tad more details in my email. Must have done something many, many moons ago for this to pop up now as this is the first time I have seen a message like this ever. As they are going to contact me every month it'going to be a bit of a bugger to shake off-b****r M/S. I will probably just treat it as spam in MailWasher and hope the b*****s naff off and get the message. Regards Gordon.

Hi TechEd-no I have never attended a Microsoft event or anything like it, nor can I recall ever registering as a "Microsoft Connect" member so this is one out of the blue as far as i'm concerned. Regards Gordon. |
