1414688 2016-01-19 06:42:00 Got a system here, ex win7 now win10.
Used only as Media Centre.
Under win7 ran happily on wifi, (TP-Link TL-WN851N V2)
Under win10 will only run happily on network cable.
Wifi shows up as Qualcomm Atheros AR922X
No flags on device manager.
Pull the network cable & it will run happily for about 10 minutes, then come up with the light blue screen, saying windows has found an error & will have to restart etc. But will just go into a repeating cycle until the network cable is re-connected.

Havent been able to find a win10 driver for the wifi card, yet.

1414689 2016-01-19 07:07:00 If you haven't done so yet, run windows update manually - Start/Settings/ Update & security. Windows 10 has several goes at downloading different drivers.

Failing that - found THESE (www.atheros.cz) the download link / Button is in the bottom of the green box, once clicked it takes a moment for it to redirect and be available.

If windows has errors, then open a CMD with Admin and run sfc /scannow

If it finds errors but cant fix them, run the DISM commands from the CMD window. Make sure you have a windows 10 DVD / USB drive and change the drive letter in the following command to what ever yours is. ( make sure you put in spaces where shown and no spaces where shown)

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:wim:E:\Sources\install.wim:1 /limitaccess

Heres what the command looks like when entered in the CMD box ( red Square - Drive letter = D)

6918

Note: I've used E as the Drive where the DVD or USB will be. Left out the limitaccess in the pic ( on purpose) the Limit access stops it looking online for a answer

When it runs as long as the command has been entered exactly right it gets to 20% appears to stop ( but hasn't) then will suddenly jump to 100% after a while, when its finished, just let it run.

1414690 2016-01-19 07:29:00 Some of TP-link's adapters dont support Win10 properly. I'm using 3 TP-link Wireless N dual band USB adapters (the WDN3200).

Found that after I updated to Win10, there was no 5 GHZ connection option, that I could select. Windows 10 drivers didn't support it, and TP-Link drivers didn't either

I had to get Mediatek RT2870 drivers for it to support dual band. And TP-link still havent released any Win 10 drivers for it

1414691 2016-01-19 08:03:00 You could try the link in the first post here (forum.tp-link.com)

But as it says they're unoffical. I think the V1 card uses Atheros AR5008. V2 uses Atheros AR9227.

Is the TL-WN851ND the same as the TL-WN851N?

1414692 2016-01-19 08:34:00 Some Body posted on Tomshardware a almost similar problem. www.tomshardware.com The solution one person said had worked is to disable Driver Signing ( this is a process that MS use to) --THIS explains it (blogs.msdn.com).

Disable driver signing -- Instructions enable-disable-device-driver-signing (www.technipages.com) The Command Prompt would be quickest.

1414693 2016-01-19 19:53:00 Thanks guys.

Just getting back to this now.

Thought I would just try something else first.
Swapped the wifi card with an old Dick Smith XH9946.
There is one of those running happily in another win 10 system here.

Problem system found the card ok, shows up as Qualcomm Atheros AR5005G, same as on the other system.
No flags on device manager, but the same problem is there. Pull the network cable & it will run for short period, then come up with the light blue screen, saying windows has found an error & will have to restart etc. But will just go into a repeating cycle until the network cable is re-connected.

So it just dosent like running on wifi.

I ran system file checker yesterday, will now work through the other suggestions.

1414695 2016-01-20 02:16:00 Just running the DISM command atm, been sitting on 20% for a while.

Just noticed there are update issues too.
Ran the troubleshooter (Service Registration missing or corrupt)

1414696 2016-01-20 04:14:00 Its not uncommon for the dism Command to sit for an hour or longer at 20% - Just leave it, it will be working. The longer its working the more its trying to repair. wainuitech (129)
1414697 2016-01-20 04:51:00 It finished ok but didn't cure the problem.

I've got the update issue sorted.

Actually read the full message on the blue stop screen.
WHEA uncorrectable error.

Points to hardware.

Found something else too.
Regardless of weather the wifi card is installed or not, the system wont run or boot without the network cable connected.
