2015-09-22 00:31:00 | To waste $26M on changing our flag and then you read THIS (www.stuff.co.nz) :groan: So many things need money and we waste $26M to stroke the PM's ego.

2015-09-22 00:45:00 | Amazing! Something we agree on. +1 if it is as reported. I saw it reported on TV last night and it very much gave me the impression that only part of the story was being told.

2015-09-22 01:09:00 | Oh look, it's all explained in the Video's text. Health Minister Dr Jonathan Coleman said health funding was at a record spend at the moment. "Vote Health is at a record $15.9 billion, including the extra $400 million received this year." And we all know where we could have saved $26M for starters. :angry

2015-09-22 01:15:00 | Obviously pretty crappy, but...... where was the family...... so he was sent to hospital, with a heart condition, yet "his family were not able to pick him up until Saturday. "

2015-09-22 01:23:00 | $26M is a drop in the bucket, almost irrelevant when you look at govt spend/wastage in general . $26M on flag stuff, $30 Mil Americas Cup, Millions on 'hi-level' sports , millions on MP's overseas trips , a 'JetPack' , Millions on bale outs of Govt owned bankrupt companies . It just never ends .

2015-09-22 02:41:00 | So....when discharged, you are supposed to be dropped home?? I had to be there to get my mum. I was at hospital one night till 1am, I was made to go in ambulance with husband (long story) and had no way to get back, they knew that. I rang around until I found a friend who could come fetch me. When you go there, you know you are going to have to leave at some point, emergency or not, therefore you make arrangements. Not to mention they generally tell you in advance when you can escape - unless you discharge yourself.

So its OK by your standards to throw an elderly patient with a heart condition out on the street? Interesting. This wasnt a family member, or somebody in good health, as evidenced by the fact that they eventually used an Air Ambulance to transport him and he spent another 5 Days in Manawatu Hospital. Some serious questions need to be answered, and quoting the health budget isnt good enough Dr Coleman. |
