1408030 2015-09-08 05:07:00 Generally mine are good.
But the other day I ordered an online item from Briscoes.
Checking tracking, after 3 days it announced my item had been delivered - in Hamilton.

I live in Ranui, Auckland.....I googled, there is a street same name - not exactly Hamilton, out in the sticks a bit.

Duh.

Today young courier guy bounces up to my door and as I open it, asks Albert?
I have a look and it is a package for next door.

We have a large number displayed on the letterbox, so does neighbour next door. We're not down the same drive or anything confusing, separate properties....

Duh.

1408031 2015-09-08 05:17:00 Have the same prob with Pbtech, and Dick Smith (same courier).

The last driver left a calling card at the neighbours. Only found out when I checked where it was online. It said attempted delivery. I was like WTF. I never saw a courier. So, I rang the courier.

The person said they left a card in the letterbox. Wrong. They either left it in the neighbour's letterbox, or left it on their doorstep.

This courier was too lazy to knock on my door. And doesnt know the alphabet. We're A. The letterbox says A, the house has A on it. And it was delivered to B

The card said I could pick it up which is a street away from me. Only prob is I dont have photo ID. To prove who I am. And dont intend on getting one

The same courier (with the previous parcel). I went to the courier. She said she could have refused to give it to me (Again the courier didnt knock on my door).

Even tho I printed the receipt out that Pbtech had on their site. Which had my name, address, and the Tracking # on it (the parcel had the same thing on it)

You dont have a drivers licence ? :)

I have ongoing issues with posties & parcels. But, that shouldnt be their job , you cant fit parcels onto the bike so its a stupid idea to
have them deliver them (they have to use their own car to deliver the parcels)

Couriers are human, they make mistakes. And they work 12+ hour days + saturday , getting bugger all for each package they deliver.

It's not laziness - it's competition

If a courier can save 2 minutes per house that might be over an hour at the end of the day

As a retired person I've sometimes seen them from an upstairs window park the van, start writing the "sorry I missed you" card as soon as their feet hit the road, ring the doorbell while wedging the card in the door, and away before I get there

It's poor service but they have to do it to be competitive. Reminds me of the high price of taxis in Wellington. There's so many taxis they have to charge an arm and a leg on the few jobs they get. Competition is not as beneficial as many people think

1408034 2015-09-08 06:22:00 Been waiting for a parcel that's been "Onboard With Courier" (Fastway) since 10am today. Not sure if I should even expect it today anymore tbh. icow (15313)

True. Seen it a few times. Always in a hurry. Two quick knocks. I come downstairs and they b%%%r off quick if their pants are on fire or something. Sometimes with the package if it requires a signature.

Tip. May help to write your address in text not just numbers. - When flatting some of my FedEx parcels from Illinois USA were delivered to No. 16 not 1b (as displayed on the mailbox) where I lived. You may see why. The b was interpreted as a 6. The packers were Spanish and according to their marketing boss, who was also Spanish thought the same - No. 16. He suggested to write it as "Number One B (1B)". Worked after that.

Lucky it didn't end up in Ranui, a suburb of Porirua.

With Fastway? Of course not. That or they left it in your letterbox and never updated the tracking info... They do that all the time to me...

By the time everyone in the middle gets their cut there is not much left for the guy who actually does the delivery. After they pay their overheads I can't see much left for profit in a one off delivery to a private address.
