1408050 2015-09-09 04:50:00 With Fastway? Of course not. That or they left it in your letterbox and never updated the tracking info... They do that all the time to me...

They went one better for me. Apparently they showed up for delivery during the 3hrs I wasn't home yesterday. Didn't leave leave a calling card or scan the card to update the tracking info. Great job Fastway!

1408051 2015-09-09 06:52:00 Well let's hope PB Tech's courier is okay because I'm testing a new feature related to couriers... pcuser42 (130)
1408052 2015-09-10 04:54:00 We are very early on our regular Courier's run, but he always comes down our drive and delivers to the door. Mrs T is a avid entrant for any and all competitions, and she wins on a regular basis, so 6:30am wake-ups from our doorbell are a sometimes twice a week occurrence, but he always waits until we get to the door to sign for it.

We've had more significant problems with NZ Post for outgoing and incoming overseas mail, with delivery delays ranging from weeks to months. One parcel to Oz was simply lost in their system so we took NZ post on over that one because we paid for full tracking and insurance. They finally refunded our shipping charges in full and the insurance was paid. Several months after that it turned up outside our daughter's apartment building in Melbourne, saturated with water but the contents intact, though some items had to be thrown away through water damage.

All in all we've found that courier services within NZ are pretty reliable, but delivery of parcels to or from overseas are a bit dodgy.

Cheers

1408053 2015-09-10 05:27:00 I get stuff delivered to work now where we have a storeman. He doesn't mind and I've only very rarely received anything but a card to call from a courier at home.

Last time I went to courier post's local office I saw a parcel sized secure letterbox they are agents for. Seemed like a great option for small to medium packages but you'd have to do a good job on concreting it in for some neighbourhoods. I get enough stuff delivered to consider it.

It's not just the couriers that stuff it up though, a lot of online suppliers have the option to specify a different delivery address to your default one and then often ignore it. For one of them (I forget which it was ages ago) They constantly couriered stuff to my home address despite me always specifying my work address. In the end I just changed the default home address to my work one.

It's happened to me from other suppliers also although a certain % of that is surely me stuffing it up myself and not realising.

Still doesn't beat that time NZ Couriers took 2 years to get a parcel to me: pressf1.pcworld.co.nz :stare:

I have found it pretty much comes down to individual drivers . Some are great, some not so great . Regardless of the company .
With one exception - PBT .

Anyway, the one who tried to give me the neighbours parcel has learned to read the letterboxes, got one for me yesterday from him, no problems in delivery .

And one I do like: Pass The Parcel . Yes, it is just a division of Posthaste, but I love the pickup . . . no driving all the way to Penrose .

eBay - You could send to another address. But I believe they have stopped doing that. Could run into privacy issues I suppose. People not wanting others to know (e.g. parents) about their items arriving at home. So sending it elsewhere. I read in the US a pregnant girl had her items (from ebay/Walmart) sent to another address. Her dad found out when the postal service/online supplier stuffed it up by actually sending baby related items to their home. He took them to task about it.
