1408452 2015-09-16 04:34:00 Yeah I've had good experiences with HP Live Chat too, mainly regarding warranty repairs though. Much easier than talking to them. wratterus (105)
1408453 2015-09-16 04:39:00 I was as happy as could be expected with what I got, assuming that the final analysis of a hardware fault is correct (still to be verified). My original post wasn't in the nature of a complaint, just an enquiry as to how the process works. Tony (4941)
1408454 2015-09-16 04:42:00 The issue was the way it calculated how much ink was remaining....

I see the confusion here :)

This is how the printers work
1) do a head clean for 3 minutes when turned on
2) if there something in the print que, do a auto head clean first
3) allways show less ink than there is, we need to make some money off these suckers via ink carts
4) heck, do another auto head clean , use up some more ink
5) have some pop ups on the pc, to remind you to buy some ink carts, empty or not
6) do another auto head clean (its been an hour since the last one)

No.

All 4 cartridges would report being empty when black was.
Despite use of colour or not.
I took them apart to verify.
And at the time, there was a group action court case in the US over it.

HP eventually refunded me rather than letting go through Disputes.

1408457 2015-09-16 10:12:00 I had a multi function HP printer few years ago which ran low on black ink which is my main use of a printer. Wouldn't print at all and was going to cost 3.5 million Greek Drachmas to bring up to scratch. Then I bought a Brother laser printer and threw away all the cartridges from the HP thinking I will just use the scanner to scan anything I want in that and print it with the Brother.

No such luck! When I tried to scan a document it refused to work, telling me to insert printer cartridges to operate scanner. SHITE!!!!! It went into the wheelie bin and SWMBO did all my scanning at work. Now she has retired, so when the cartridge ran out I bought a Brother MF laser printer and gave the bird to HP ..l..
