1415260 2016-01-31 04:41:00 Hi, what colour is the fibre cable that Chorus uses? I think it's green, but not sure.
Reason I'm asking is, that Chorus was supposed to do my install for fibre on Friday, but didn't show, however my next door neighbour's have suddenly got green cable sticking out from their little terminal box on the outside of their house.

Ok that's fine but, the tenants who were in the house moved out yesterday?
I phoned my ISP and they said I had phoned after hours for that service and to phone back on Monday.

Ah ha the plot thickens. I am beginning to wonder if Chorus installed to the wrong house lol!

1415265 2016-01-31 07:17:00 Here in Wanganui, when u/g fibre was installed, it was thro Red plastic pipe pressed underground by machine . Only disturbing the surface at intervals. In our street the Cable is black & suspended between the power poles with a junction box at each pole.
If memory serves me right. Red is for Fibre, Orange is for Mains electric, Green is for Copper phones, Yellow is for Gas, Blue is for Water. There are other colours for other services. PJ

Looks suspicious, I think they stuffed up and did your neighbours place.

1415268 2016-02-01 08:52:00 Ok, have just spoken to person who owns house next door, and no, he did not request fibre to his house. So, Chorus has actually stuffed up and installed up to wrong house!
Tomorrow I'll phone my ISP and tell them, maybe they will sort it, or I'll have to tell Chorus themselves. Kinda funny really, I used to work in Telecom Line Depot back in the '80s. The cabling gang often got things wrong too! Was a bit different in those days I guess! But they soon had things sorted and you could actually talk to the gang and work things out easily then.

Couldn't get sweet fanny adams out of anyone today, it being Auckland Anniversary and all......

1415269 2016-02-01 10:39:00 Yeah you'll have to ring your ISP, and they'll tell Chorus for you, it'll likely need re-booking and stuff for them to arrange a time to come actually do *your* property.
That, and they could get in a ton of trouble for doing the neighbors without consent... OR you could have just done your neighbor a huge favor and saved them a ton of time battling with Chorus to get it installed ;)
