| 551113 | 2007-05-19 08:16:00 | Hi everyone At work I'm looking at deploying a set of thin clients using the 2X Thinclientserver PXES edition software. It basically allows deployment and management of all the thin clients from one central server, for free. I've tested out the software at home using a PC running Win2003 server with a couple of old IBM 300PL's and my Thinkpad booting off it. After much trouble with the PXE boot system I've finally managed to get it all working together, and I think I can test it out at work too. However the thing I'm worried about is the fact that we're running RIS on the domain controller already and it provides a lot of the services that the 2X software will. My concerns were alleviated by the answer at the bottom of this thread: www.2x.com But the thing that the last post asks for on that thread is what I'm concerned about now. Since RIS already has its TFTP service installed, will the installation of the 2X software cause any problems? Also, the thread mentions that RIS should be set to deploy only to PCs already on the domain. How would I go about setting that? Thanks in advance |
