| 550842 | 2007-05-18 09:12:00 | I have just bought a secondhand IBM A20m Laptop. It has a problem with the PCI serial port. This is where the Intel mini PCI LAN card plugs in. Shows up in System information as Problem Device. Error code 28 which means simply that the drivers are not installed. The fix is obvious. Install the driver!. No driver in Windows 2000Pro SP4 and I dont have the Vendors disk. Cant find anything on IBM or Lenovo Support site or anywhere else on Google. Anyone have a similar Laptop with a Intel(R)PRO/100+MiniPCI Ethernet Card. I think if I had the names of the drivers I could possibly find them on DriverGuide.com. Thanks for any help. Ian |

| 550843 | 2007-05-18 13:08:00 | I have a sony notebook with an intel pro 10/100 ethernet adapter but it is a PCMCIA card sometimes known as a PC card. It uses a driver called e100bnt5.sys for win 2000 available from Intel. Google finds it easily. HTH |

Go to ibm.com and search that for the drivers. Failing that open the laptop and maybe under the keyboard and pull the mini pci card out and it should tell you what brand and model it is ... you can search the manufacturer for drivers that way. But bear in mind, some parts arrived out with OEM only which was a slight variation before the commercially free available ones so the drivers won't work those that are freely available. Not saying its not impossible to get them but requires a bit more work such as google and you may need to download the such driver off a diff brand laptop if that is the case. Failing that, the mini pci card these days can be had for like $10US on eBay. |
