550659 2007-05-17 09:14:00 Do Download managers like Fresh Download improve download speeds on Broadband or are they only effective on dialups?

Cheers

550660 2007-05-17 09:44:00 They work good sometimes on both. BUT, not all sites like download managers.

The site will refuse to download the file when u use one.

550661 2007-05-17 09:51:00 Welcome to PressF1 tuiruru :)

How well they work on Broadband will depend on if you use FTP or HTTP to download the files & what plan you’re on & if you’re ISP has any speed limit on things like FTP etc…

550662 2007-05-17 10:37:00 extremely handy even with broadband. some sites limit the download speeds so its handy to be able to do download simultaneously from multiple mirrors. it can make a huge difference in speed. tweak'e (69)
550663 2007-05-17 10:52:00 I find a lot of the time I am limited to 50kbps. With download managers giving multiple connections I can easily hit 2-300kbps :) trinsic (6945)
