551293 2007-05-20 03:49:00 Hi guys, My mate just re-installed windows on his laptop and now he cant find the cd with the audio drivers or the modem drivers so he cant connect to the net and download them!!!
I wouldn't have a clue what kind of modem it has but its a "Dell Inspiron 2200" lappy.
Also, while he was installin win xp again he messed up and had to do it again, problem is the first attempt is screwed and still on there and you can choose which OS you want to go into when you boot up, how do i get rid of the corrupted OS?

551294 2007-05-20 04:08:00 Well hopefully u have the XP cd, u can do a clean install.

Then delete both partitions then install XP.

Go to the Dell site and a search for the model.

Or go thru the products, select Inspiron and 2200.

551297 2007-05-20 06:04:00 Also, i can't find the modem drivers on the dell site because i dont know what kind of modem is in it.... there's an Ethernet port so does that mean its a network card? All that comes up in device manager is PCI Modem with that little yellow ? next to it. springa886 (10558)
551298 2007-05-20 07:20:00 Alternatively, you could ring Dell's customer support and pay for a recovery CD set with all the drivers included, you will need to backup your files if you don't want to lose any of them.

Cheers

551299 2007-05-31 17:21:00 The driver for the Conexant modem found in the Dell Inspiron 2200 is ftp.dell.com It is approximately 1Mb in size.

If you did a reinstallation of Windows then you will need to make sure you installed the Dell Notebook System software (ftp.dell.com approximately 7Mb) first as it is basically part of the chipset software, and is required to make sure Windows can properly talk to all the hardware in the system.

If you had any other questions about the drivers, or any other part of the system, I will be happy to answer them for you.
