2007-05-22 07:15:00 | Well I wouldnt use Itunes or QT either. But Itunes is the only program u can use (or that I know of) that updates an Ipod (the update used to be separate). And I wouldnt use QT either, but Itunes wont work without it.

I know there are people who don't like iTunes- possibly because it comes from Apple . . . . but, Speedy, what don't you like about iTunes? |

2007-05-22 09:10:00 | Nothing wrong with Itunes. I just dont buy songs through it. So, why have it. I only use it to sync contacts and the calendar. With Outlook. And so I can update the Ipods. And coz it lets me put the videos I put on the Ipod in the right place (either under Music Videos, or Movies). Winamp can transfer video, I just havent looked to see if it can put them in the right place. Altho I could use Essential PIM Pro (for the contacts/calendar).

2007-05-22 09:18:00 | No problem Speedy. I can't say that I have ever bought songs through the music store either. I must be old school or something, since I still buy my music on CD. I have read of a number of people who use alternative software to iTunes for their iPods, most of which they got through iLounge I think. Edit: With EMI making huge losses and being the subject of a take over bid, I would imagine that the other big 3 labels can't be too far behind so buying music on CD may soon become a thing of the past.

2007-05-22 09:31:00 | I might uninstall it shortly actually . And just use this PIM program and Winamp . I dont think there will be anymore updates (well for the 40 GB, there hasnt been any for a few yrs) . And there hasnt been any updates for the 60 GB for the last yr or so either . If I need to use anything that needs QT, I'll just use QT alternative . Altho cant say I've come across any sites or anywhere else that needs QT . Besides the files I convert to MP4 .

2007-05-22 10:07:00 | There is more likely to be an updated iPod than future firmware updates for older iPods based on the rate that Apple updates it's hardware. I gather they are working on full screen "touch" sensitve iPod nanos and the iPhone which is due out from the 15th of June in the US. The only other thing that will get graduated updates would be the h.264 codec for the store and the higher DRM free codec for the music tracks. | winmacguy (3367) | |
2007-06-21 01:24:00 | You need this Joe: wmpfirefoxplugin1008 looking for where to find it . Here: . majorgeeks . com/Microsoft_Windows_Media_Player_Firefox_Plugin_d560" target="_blank">www . majorgeeks . com 6 . html For some ungodly reason, M$ has locked down the sites that send out the older versions of WMP . . . If you try one of them, you get redirected to M$ and the warning that what you are trying to do is incompatible with your system and basically, you're screwed! I've been chasing my tail for a couple of weeks now and I might just have to resort to a latter version of XP that has WMP10 on it . . if ANY ACTUALLY DO! I can't remember . . . but I think the last versions before WMP11/XP had WMP9 in them . . . or so I believe anyway . If anyone knows a sure fire way to get WMP10 . . . please let me know . Hmmm? I wonder . . . can I just copy the WMP10 from one puter to another? I wonder what THAT entails!?!? :help:

2007-06-21 01:34:00 | They probably don't want you using WMP10 anymore because WMP11 contains more DRM restrictions which keeps the RIAA much happier. Just try using something else if you don't like the sucky motor DRM'd wma files of MS which might be easier that trying to copy wmp10 from one machine to another.... | winmacguy (3367) | |
