551837 2007-05-22 21:22:00 I use NV 2005 and don't have a single problem with it. Even have it running when playing games with no problems.
Trevor :)

551838 2007-05-22 22:08:00 Big John, no I certainly do not think you are thick. Just lucky, or fortunate.
I do of course know that - like Trev and yourself - there are those who use NAV without problems. But many others do have problems.

I suspect that many people wind up with NAV because it came with their computer - free for 6 months. Then when they try to use another AV, e.g. Avast or AVG, they cannot since NAV cannot be uninstalled (without a special remover tool) so they go ahead and pay $$ for a dubious product that is no better than freebies like Avast or AVG.

551839 2007-05-22 22:27:00 So you are saying I am thick for using it.
All software has problems when updates are done

No you just haven't found out why most of us hate it yet.

Thats not true either, I've never had problems with updating NOD32.

Nortons does slow the system down, it has some nasty habits, like taking out Windows when certain problems occur.
The list is large......

551840 2007-05-23 02:30:00 Norton probably pays people to make viruses to keep them in buisness .

I said about 7 months ago i would never pay for A/V software . then i thought, "why not see what everyone is raving about" and downloaded the Nod32 trial . 30 days later i called myself a liar, as i coughed up $70 or so .

Nod32 is really really good, and uses next to no system resources .

It's so worth it . although it did delete dialupass . but so did avg .

Reflecting on pctek's expert opinion, let me revise a comment I made earlier:

If anyone has been a member of PF1 for a 'good amount of time' and is up to the mark with info posted here, and then spends $$$ on NAV, then yes, I do think they are 'thick'!

But as I said, most people probably use NAV because it came preinstalled on their computer and they don't know how to get rid of it so they can use Avast or AVG instead.

 While I'm at it, my comment about NOD32 - it is the BEST. If I wasn't such a cheapskate or had problems with viruses / malware, I would get it.

551842 2007-05-23 03:40:00 Sorry but you are wrong and many would agree with me just as many would agree with you. All software has problems when updates are done as does ALL virus scanners and they ALL make mitakes at times.

Take your prejudices elsewhere.

Yes your'e absolutley right and IE 7 is the best browser and Xtra is the best ISP and Microsoft is the best software and Holden is better than Ford and Lion Red is better than Tui
Yeah Right.
Whatever.

551845 2007-05-23 07:22:00 One always hears complaints from those who moan a lot about things they neither know about or understand. How many people that are complaining about things are actually running them but repeating stories from others. Usually those that do not know what they are doing. People that are happy with the software usually dont say anything and that is why you dont hear from them.

For the record I have used NAV and NIS since I first had a computer in it's various forms. No it has never slowed my PC down and I even still run the current 2007 version on a 1Ghz P3 with no issues. I have NEVER had a virus in all those years that has slipped through in any form.

And yes I should know all about viruses and checkers because I used to write one of them for the Amiga computer so do know what I am talking about.

551846 2007-05-23 07:47:00 Well if some people want to pay $$ for something that freebies can do just as good if not better, so be it. Strommer (42)
