552884 2007-05-25 03:16:00 I have six dvd's with files etc written to them. I did them on my old computer. Now when I put one in my drive, it won't read it. I get the message "CD not formatted. Do I want to format it."

What am I supposed to do to copy my dvd's to new hard disk?

552885 2007-05-25 03:19:00 Were they finalised after u burned whatever to them??

If not this could be the prob.

What did u burn the files to the DVD's with?

I used Ashampoo to write the disks. When it said they were finished I just clicked on exit.

I checked them and they all seemed to be complete and OK.

552887 2007-05-25 03:43:00 I would run that program again and see if its got a finalise option it in somewhere.

If it has this option, you may have to put those DVD's in again and make sure theyre finalised.

Or else I doubt anything will be able to read them.

552888 2007-05-25 06:21:00 Jack, does your new pc have WinXP - the same OS as the old one?
If so, then do you have Ashampoo installed?
Are you using a different brand of DVD reader?

552889 2007-05-25 11:43:00 Got it sorted.
The dvd's I was having trouble with are all rewritable. I tried again with "use once" disks and had no problems at all. Funny.

It seems Ashampoo just finishes the disk off without asking.
