552789 2007-05-24 16:51:00 Hi,

I am having a problem with a 2.5 inch hard disk. When it is connected to the laptop, it could not startup on the window xp system. It keep going to the safe mode prompt and restart forever. When I took the hard disk to connect to other pc using the USB connector, it can detect the hard disk. The partition is active and healthy. But I could not access it as it indicate the error. The disk show 100% free. How could it be empty when the operating system is install inside this partition? Anyone can help? Is it infected with virus that wipe out all the data inside? How can I recover it then? Please advise..

Boot off the WIndows CD and go into Recovery Console.
Run chkdsk over it.
See if that helps.

If not then try a Repair Install and see if that helps.

If not run the hard drive manufacturers tool CD over it to check if the drive itself is OK.
