552269 2007-05-22 23:11:00 Thanks for viewing.

I'm trying to download a file and all I get is a text file with the extension .apsx with gobbledegook in it. It's supposed to be a pdf file from Microsoft support site.

i can't find out what to do about it. I'm guessing I have some link missing that is supposed to happen when you click on a download file link like this?

Does anybody know what I have done to my PC? I've been cleaning out stuff, but I'm not sure what stuff this was part of. i reinstalled the .net 2.0 framework thingy, but that didn't help.

Any suggestions anyone?

552270 2007-05-22 23:46:00 Can you post here the link to the page where it has the PDF you want to download, and then we can give downloading that PDF a try then we can see if it is a server issue or an issue with your computer

What browser are you using?

552271 2007-05-23 00:17:00 What browser am I using? - That question did the trick. Of course Firefox didn't work at Microsoft download site, so I clicked the IE tab option and link worked properly. Thanks Stu, just what I was looking for - a trigger.:) Eorr (2788)

552273 2007-05-23 04:09:00 FF will work on the MS download site, if u get the WGAplugin..

Then u can download from the MS site as well. With FF.

I had a similar prob with 1 site the other day, it kept on bringing up the download window asking to load html.

I uninstalled FF deleted its folder etc and reinstalled it. That fixed it.

Or you could just get IE tab, click on the icon once and be done...:D

But that just loads IE into a tab, which defeats the purpose of not using IE :)
