552022 2007-05-22 08:41:00 I decided that I would investigate such an upgrade.

I went into MS website but found that such an upgrade is offered only in the States and a minimal number of other Countries but not NZ. I rang MS in Auckland today and surprise, surprise, can't do it without buying the Ultimate upgrade disk for about $650.

Didn't I read in the original blurb that all versions were on the disk and all you needed was the correct key code that you could buy for a price? For a $650 price alright. Talk about LOL!

552023 2007-05-22 09:04:00 Are the "benefits" you would get from Vista "Ultimate" really worth the asking price? winmacguy (3367)
552024 2007-05-22 09:24:00 Guess what?, Vista doesn't even make the Best 100 Products of 2007 with PC World.com

552025 2007-05-22 09:27:00 No the benefits aren't there. I just though why the hell not upgrade but I shan't be going down that road.

I may have had other thoughts if I knew that I wouldn't be able to upgrade si i guess it was a trap for new players, a honey trap for MS.

Definitely not. Not for $650, oh hell no. Maybe a max of $200, but definitely not $650.

I think even PC World.com agrees with you there, possibly even more so considering none of the Vista versions make their top 100 product picks of 2007 regardless of how far into the year we are.

552029 2007-05-22 10:42:00 Exactly. No matter how much I love Vista Ultimate, nothing justifies a $650 fee for upgrading from Home Premium to Ultimate. qazwsxokmijn (102)
552030 2007-05-22 11:29:00 So what exactly do you get in Ultimate that you don't get in VHP that justify such a big price? I know it has BitLocker but that doesn't even work unless your PC has the hardware to support it?? Geek4414 (12000)
552031 2007-05-22 11:38:00 Not much except for a lighter wallet. winmacguy (3367)
