553889 2007-05-28 10:27:00 Thanks for the offer SolMiester. I'll find a way. I've got it sorted on this monitor & I know it cost a lot more than the Chimei. The Chimei is only for work & is replacing an old crt that was so faint I almost left nose prints on the screen. I'll change the video card tomorrow & see if it makes any difference. If not I'll take it back & they can try it in the computer shop etc. The one I was looking at on display looked much better than the one I brought home. Phil B (648)
553890 2007-05-28 19:43:00 High resolutions are all very well, but I want to be able to read whats on the screen without any stress. I've got an lcd monitor at home that has 1650x1080 as default resolution. Thats great if you're looking at pictures but hopeless if you're reading text. I use it on 1024x768 too

I always use the native mode and use the windows properties to increase the text size

This gives crisp but perfectly readable Text

553891 2007-05-29 06:03:00 You say it is like the "light being too bright', should there not be three settings for brightness ?? My Chimie has and all others I have seen do, some are on the side,(behind side panel), left I think and some on the front.
Or look here for clear type;
