553250 2007-05-26 06:24:00 I don't think there's ANY rollback allowed any more

I tried even to upgrade to WMP10 from WMP9, and NOPE! It won't happen!!!!

553251 2007-05-26 06:59:00 Thanks a lot, SuferJoe46. Surely there are other media players out there.

yes there are although there seems to be just as many websites now using either Adobe Flash, WMP or Quicktime...

Yeah, there are. Winamp is a great player. I find that it's media library isn't quite so slick as some other players, but the actual player itself is really good. It supports a lot of audio types out of the box. And if your into visualisations, it comes with one of the best I have ever come across (Milkdrop).

553254 2007-05-26 10:50:00 I had a lot of problems with WMP too. I eventually found Media Player Classic and made it my default player. If you don't want imo useless stuff like album covers. If you just want something that plays the media file well. I have found it to be the bomb. Google it or www.free-codecs.com

553255 2007-05-26 14:57:00 Speedy:

I dumped WMP9 on the older Dell and then tried to get WMP10..NOPE! It took me out of the loop and would only allow me to goto WMP11.

I kept getting that non-compatibility error each time I tried.

So..I went and re-installed XP-Pro with SP-2 to at least get back to WMP9...and there I am stuck unless I was dumb enough to install WMP11 with all the DRMs.

Seems the RIAA and MPAA, sleeping with M$ have closed that door now. Maybe not so in NZ..but here in USland I am doomed to get the WDRM or die trying.

Thankfully I have this older Dell to play with...

I take it you don't like iTunes for Windows which is DRM free .

553258 2007-05-27 01:49:00 Thanks to all those who gave me advice about my media player. I did manage to roll it back to version 9 and it now works fine all the time.(So much for progress)?, however I still think I will change it for a different player. Once again thank you all. Ango (10308)

lol, you guess it, its an Apple thing.

Its not too bad but not much use without an Ipod.

Altho it does sync contacts and calendars if u have/use Outlook, but then you'll still need an Ipod to sync both.

It works with 2K/XP.

I have no idea, why you cant install WMP 10.

With WMP 11, it depends on what you load into it, whether it uses DRM or whatever. I dont use it that much, even tho its installed. BUT, when I've loaded files (that I've made up), it works fine.

I dont buy anything thats got DRM stuff in it, so unless u do, I cant see why WMP 11 would stop you from loading whatever.

And even tho WMP 11 is installed, there's no files (related to it) that are running.
