| 553168 | 2007-05-25 22:24:00 | Girlfriends complains to me when I get home that her computer (AMD Athlon 1600+ based) no longer boots. NO error, no beeps, just the logo from the monitor saying to check the connection. Check all connections, restart. Fan running, computer appears to bootup, no grafix (same little message on the monitor). Swap grafix from AGP card to onboard (Asrock motherboard). Same thing. As I decided to upgrade the RAM from my computer, I bought a 2*512 RAM set for my computer and installed my current RAM module into her computer (after taking her RAM module out). Booted perfect. Reinstalled her old module.. booted perfect :confused: Installed both her old module (that previously failed to boot) and the one ex my machine (2 different speed modules, one is DDR333 512MB while the other is DDR400 512MB) and her machine boots perfect AND sees 1Gb installed Why would it boot now, yet failed to boot then? RAM creepage? (I didn't think that existed) |

| 553172 | 2007-05-26 13:11:00 | yea that sounds like it i've worked on a machine that absolutely refused to work untill everything was pulled out and then stuck back in again. pretty old machine, just corroded/dirty contacts. how they get that way is beyond me. maybe it just wanted love:rolleyes: |
