554065 2007-05-29 01:43:00 Hi,I tried to install XP to a usb drive.
Before I got to the stage where I could chose the drive to install XP to the setup files had been copied to C: drive.
For reasons best known to itself and another question XP would not install to the usb drive.
So I aborted the install, now when I boot the puta up the setup wizard runs and I have to press F3 a couple of times etc to get the puta to boot into the OS.
My question is does anybody know where to disable the setup wizard or am I going to have to do an install over the top of my present C: drive to get rid of the wizard ??
Thanks for your thoughts.

554067 2007-05-29 03:17:00 Hi Speedy,
Thanks for the fast reply.
I guessed that an install might be needed, though I will over wright the present installation, too much hassle to start from a reformat if I can get away with not doing it.
Looks upwards with the word please echoing in the ol brain..:)
Will try and solve the install to the usb drive first, will have to go back and rerun it so I know what the message was and start a new thread.
Anyone else with any ideas as to how I can disable the setup...I'm guessing theres a value in the reg. somewhere that can be changed...??
Many thanks folks

554068 2007-05-29 03:43:00 Up to you how u want to reinstall it.

I take it this USB drive is external and its connected to power as well?

Its either the power isnt connected, or maybe your system doesnt support external USB2 devices.

Does the BIOS detect this USB drive??

554069 2007-05-29 04:57:00 I wouldnt re-install the o/s, you need to edit the boot.ini to remove the 2nd o/s boot.
Go to Control Panel>system>advance>start up & recovery, settings button and click the edit button to delete the line that contains the 2nd o/s start up parameters.

Another piece of knowledge in my armory of what makes these 0's and 1's wizz around.

Speedy
It's a 320 gig Seagate,external power, usb input.
Yep the power was on,can drag and drop to the drive or reverse.
The OS installer could see the 2 partitions on it just didn't want to play.
There was a message that I hadn't seen before, but will go and try and reinstall again and get the message,I haven't tried to google it yet,the answer may be only a few key strokes away..
Will start a new thread for it if google supply's no ideas.

Thanks folks for you suggestions and help.
