554884 2007-06-01 02:37:00 Ok, so I am putting together a new system and would apreciate some feedback on some of the components I have chosen. Its main use will be 3D Design work.

Motherboard: Asus M2N SLI Delux
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+
Ram: Apacer 4Gb DDR2-800 PC2-6400
Video: 320 Mb Asus EN 8800GTS

As for the Monitor, I am looking at a 22" AOC or Samsung.

Also, could anyone recomend a good CPU cooler?

Thanks

554887 2007-06-01 04:13:00 Hey... just noticed the article has been updated. Looks like it's not really safe to reccomend the 226BW anymore.

Apparantly a few different 'versions' of it have been produced. Some being really top quality, while the others not at all!

Quality from highest to lowest:
S > A > C1 > C2 (two different versions of C even!)

While S is top quality, A is decent quality, and can be corrected manually, the C versions are not good at all :(

What O/S? Cause you probably won't get it to run the full 4Gb.

You wiull need a 64 bit OS to be able to take full advantage of the 4GB of RAM.

In your case, the CPU I would get would be an Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 and the sock cooler will be fine unless you want to overclock

I would have thought that the need for that would depend on how hard you were going to run the system. Possibly a Quad Cored Intel chip would actually be ideally suited to what your looking at doing, considering it wouldn't need to be overclocked or need any excess amount of cooling. Just depends if your budget will stretch that far. A 64 bit OS would also handle a maximum of 16GB of RAM- as would a suitable motherboard.
