| 555358 | 2007-06-02 07:13:00 | I have been a committed Linux user since about 1998 - Mandrake, Redhat, a little SuSe and Fedora. I have faced the traditional difficulties with things like DVD playing and wireless network cards ... ... but after trying PCLinuxOS 2007 those days seem to be gone. I struggled to get intermittent use of my PCMCIA wireless card in Fedora Core 5 - with PCLOS you just plug it in and it goes. It finds hardware that other distros struggle with - e.g. a HP printer/scanner where the scanner refused to go with Mandriva again just goes. The distro comes on one CD and installs from a live CD KDE environment. It uses a GUI front end to apt-get for additional software. The only problem I have found so far is that the live CD can refuse to run with some obscure video cards. I'm impressed! |

I just installed SAM Linux 2007 today (having previously used PCLOS 2007 TR4), which is basically PCLOS 2007 with Xfce 4.4 instead of KDE. It also is very good. The main difference between them is the default desktop environment and slightly different apps. |
