554908 2007-06-01 03:44:00 Have put this in before and have not been able to fix the problem, but have more clues to the cause now.

Have a 250gig external Seagate drive, which I want use for backups etc.
Not being very smart, I copied and pasted my C drive to this external drive. This is only about 18gigs so stacks of space left.
Now my problem is, although the C drive will work OK from the external, each time I try to add or delete anything, it comes up "Write protected try another disc". The same message comes up if I try to reformat or any other means I have tried to work this disc.
Am using xp pro and not very experienced and scared of the Registery
Any help welcome ..Ron..

554909 2007-06-01 04:17:00 Have you tried to connect it to another PC? And see if you can format it there. ronyville (10611)
554910 2007-06-02 04:52:00 Thanks for the reply, but have no way to try it on another computer at the moment.
Bought the drive new on trademe and it worked fine until I copied the C drive onto it.
Thanks again, Ron..
