2007-06-04 10:20:00 | :badpc: I run winxp pro withsp2. I also run GoBack wich is a system restore program that starts up at startup. When I turn on pc it gets to starting up GoBack, which is prior to starting windows. But GoBack is now coming up with an error message and won't let me past that point. How do I go about bypassing starting this program? I think it would be started up by autoexec file . Is this right and how do I fix it? Cheers | jferg (3232) | |

2007-06-04 10:58:00 | Go back kicks in before then I think. Im in bed on laptop at the moment but will try that tomorrow. How can I boot in safemode...is it F5 F8? | jferg (3232) | |

2007-06-04 13:21:00 | I don't know about Go back but most backup programs like that have an option to create a boot disk so when things like this happen you put in the boot disk and roll back to a point in time when all worked. Have you got this option? If not then once you get the issue sorted I'd get a backup solution that allows this - Acronis or Gost for example. | berryb (99) | |
2007-06-04 20:37:00 | Ok I got out of bed and tried to enter safe mode with no success. GoBack started and indicated that proceding will cause disk damage, and I can't get past this point. How can I enter the boot process prior to this ? | jferg (3232) | |
2007-06-04 21:23:00 | I run winxp pro withsp2. I also run GoBack wich is a system restore program In fact its a Nortons :yuck: restore program. Throw it away and never use it again. A quick search of Google shows its a nasty piece of software. XP has its own system restore anyway so why you thought you needed it...... Try doing a Repair Install on Windows.

2007-06-05 08:05:00 | Yeah... thanks for that pctek, point taken, thanks for your advice but can you answer my question? | jferg (3232) | |
2007-06-05 12:49:00 | You will need to boot off a CD. Either a Go Back boot disk or as PCtek said your OS install disk and do a repair. | berryb (99) | |
2007-06-05 23:30:00 | Thanks for that. I did also have a feeling that you could interupt the system files and load drivers / programs as required. | jferg (3232) | |
