555391 2007-06-02 09:46:00 Hey guys, does anyone know of any app that will scan my pc and tell me whether i have the latest drivers or whether any drivers need to be updated.... and is free?? (im a cheap arse!) i went to driveragent.com and did a scan and it came up with heaps of "bad" drivers, but you gotta pay $30US to download the updates or sumthin!!! Nevermind that one!!!! lol, anyway, yeah, anyone know of any good ones? springa886 (10558)
555392 2007-06-02 09:57:00 Bah, that's just bs to try and convince you to buy their product. A driver is only 'bad' if it doesn't work. pine-o-cleen (2955)
555393 2007-06-02 19:02:00 The only drivers u need, are the ones for your mobo / printer, and whatever devices you have .

It'll be easier going to the mobo maker's site, the printer's manufacturer's site etc . And bookmarking them .

Instead of being lazy and trying to find some useless program to do the job for you (which may or may not work anyway) .

Just dont use Windowsupdate, and install the drivers from there . If you want whatever to work later . it wont .

If you want whatever to work later. it wont.AS a general rule, drivers from Windowsupdate can be used, so long as they are NOT for sound or graphics. I have never had an issue with modem/network drivers from Windowsupdate (from my time doing work experience at a local repairer).
However, I grant you that things may have gone downhill since then (a year or 2 ago)

If its not broken, don't fix it.

Something stopped working? Giving you BSODs? Fine, change the driver.

Working well? Then what are you fussing about?
