First, stop putting pictures where your puter wants to default them to .

You must be the owner and tell it what you want .

If you use Firefox (for instance) tell it to download to a folder you make away from your root drive . . . as far away as you can . . . even another hdd .

Then point Firefox to it thru the options and do not let it send them to the desktop .

So much for Firefox .

Now . . you should only put the other things like . mov and your camera pixs in a separate folder too . . . that way you can readily find them when you need them

If you scatter files all over the system, then you've got a big mess to clean up before you can even consider pointing Picassa at them later on .

Once you've got all your pixs corralled, then tell Picassa to scan them as you see fit .

Remember that Picassa needs you to OPEN those trees that you see in the scan area . . or arena is a better word .

Tell Picassa to scan them all the time, and it'll do it when you fire up Picassa . . and that's OK . . and the way I do it anyway .

Scan Once is just for the time you have Picassa running at that moment . . . that's the moment you click on that order . . . . . . then it will leave that folder alone from then on .

You don't need Picassa going into your Windows files and pulling out every graphic it can find . . that's too strange to even think about . You DO NOT NEED all those . gifs and things that Windows uses for icons and such in you Picassa folders and files area at all .

If you have a graphic program like some of the scanner and printer card-makers, they will also get grabbed by Picassa if you let them! Don't let that happen . . . you'll be sorry when you clean them all out every time you click on Picassa .

These instructions are not different from any other associating file-grabbing program . YOU BE THE BOSS! !
