2007-06-05 07:21:00 | HELP NEEDED!!! I replaced my old Athlon XP 1800+ processor and K7S5A mainboard with a Duron 2000+ KM4M-V Mainboard. When I attempted to restart the computer my HDD was no longer detected. Iv then put my old board and chip back in but still have the same problem. The HDD is a Seagate Baracuda 60GB ATA IV ST360021A. BIOS detects the CD drive and floppy but not the HDD. I can hear the drive working and its beeping and things like that but its not talking to the PC. Iv plugged another drive in and it isn't seen either. Any suggestions appreciated.

Plug the end of the cable into your HDD, making sure its in reight, no bent pins etc. Likewise at the motherboard end, and make sure you have it connected to the Primary IDE slot on the board. Then go back into the BIOS and see if it sees it. |

2007-06-05 07:50:00 | Try the HDD in another PC and see if that detects it Are you SURE all cables are plugged in? Power? IDE at HDD, IDE at motherboard, right way in and fully in?

2007-06-05 08:07:00 | The drive worked on your old motherboard; it works in another computer . You unplugged the cables from the old motherboard and put them into the new one . That is what has been changed . That's most likely the cause of the problem . Either the new motherboard is faulty, or, more likely, something is wrong . :D Does the drive activity light come on and stay on? That would indicate that you have an IDE connector inserted the wrong way around . That's the first thing to check . Look hard . Try using the "CS" jumper setting . The motherboard's logic might prefer that .

2007-06-06 13:29:00 | The drive worked on your old motherboard; it works in another computer. It doesn't work on his old motherboard anymore, and other HDD's don't work on the new motherboard. You could try updating the BIOS (if there's a new version)

2007-06-06 19:11:00 | You could try changing the IDE Cable and making sure its the 80 wire version. | B.M. (505) | |
