557528 2007-06-09 06:59:00 Yello, I have lost my volume control on XP SP2. Ithink it might have been cleaned out when I did a AV scan, apparently viruses? hide in it sometimes.
How do I Re-install SndVol32.exe? Is the solution something similar to Burnzee's solution in another post regarding Add-Remove in the Control panel?
Cheers

557529 2007-06-09 07:40:00 Hi

Not sure if you have actually lost the file or access to it.

1. Do a search on your computer, (all files and folders), for sndvol32.exe
2. Should be in the Windows\System32 Folder.
3. If not copy it into there.
4. Done

To access SndVol32 just click START, PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES, ENTERTAINMENT then VOLUME CONTROL.

Best way however, is via the small speaker icon in the taskbar. Simply, Right click and select OPEN VOLUME CONTROL.

No Icon? Goto CONTROL PANEL, Click SOUNDS AND AUDIO DEVICES. Tick PLACE VOLUME ICON ON TASKBAR.

Hope this helps

557530 2007-06-09 12:58:00 Ta burnzee but no luck with any of the above, have lost the file but got a copy off my recovery disc, loaded into Windows/system32, then tried installing thru Add/Remove programs but comes up as " not knowing what program made it" & to search the web for a program to open it with.
No icon on tool bar & when trying in Control Panel/sounds adio devices/Place icon on tool bar, get the same result, no luck, Cheers

557531 2007-06-09 21:41:00 check controlpanel/system/hardware/device manager ......under sound and video controllers to see if you havent somehow deleted or disabled your sound card....if you have that will definitely make the little volume control dissapear drcspy (146)
