| 557467 | 2007-06-09 03:09:00 | My Compaq Presario 2500 running XP Home SP2 has decided to take a week to shutdown. Ive cleaned everything out with CCleaner, Ive run Symantic Win Doctor, AVG gives a clean bill of health, adaware found nothing, defragged and now Ive run out of ideas. I also close all running programmes prior to shutting down Windows. I do recall seeing somewhere what causes this problem but I cant for the life of me think where. Its only recently started this nonsense and appears to be getting worse. Any suggestions anyone? :help: |

| 557473 | 2007-06-09 07:19:00 | Ok, to start at the top. Pctech: I close everything thats running down individually, so when I go to turn computer off theoretically only Windows is running. Speedy: Ive used Windoctor by Symantic (Part of SystemWorks) for years without a problem. Ive also used Ccleaner and not had a problem there either. The strange thing is I havent installed any additional programmes or anything. The problem just seems to be getting worse by the day. Stu: 40gig HDD 10gig in use. Good thought though. Apsatty: Did that but no luck. In fact I think it may have slowed down the loading just for good measure. The computer shows all the symptoms described in the Read Me file, its just that uphclean didnt help when it looked like it should have. Sweep: Its a Notebook and I dont have a long enough lead. ;) |

| 557475 | 2007-06-09 08:24:00 | By everything, I mean everything I have opened and everything shown on the taskbar as running. My guess is there is something still running in the background but how does one find it? I should not be at all surprised if a programme of some sort has taken it upon itself to update automatically and this is the result. :groan: |
