also now i figure as im gona need a need gfx card I mite as well look at buying a new mobo and cpu so any suggestions here as well would be good? must be dual core is my only requirement.

557432 2007-06-09 02:43:00 Getting an 8k sries nVidia would be good here, for futureproofing (direct x 10), so i would reccomend the 8800GTS, 320mb, its the sort of mid range 8000 series. I havent really been keeping up with processors though, cant help there. Ripdog (11014)
557433 2007-06-09 03:13:00 Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 and overclock it.

8800GTS is good, but hardly what I call futureproofing for DX10. Imo I would be waiting for the next lot of cards for DX10 games.

557435 2007-06-09 22:13:00 If it were me and you want REAL AMAZING gaming performance . . . I would get an 8600GT or GTS . . .

And then wait till the G92 comes out which is rumored to be around Xmas I would hate to think of the price though . . . because this thing is powerful . . . REALLY . . . Nvidia claim that the G92 will be a 1 Teraflop Beast ( . theinquirer . net/default . aspx?article=39829" target="_blank">www . theinquirer . net) which the 8800 is only 330Gflops so if the 9800 IS actually 1Tflop it is 3 TIMES MORE POWERFUL  I think I know what I am going to do now :D

557437 2007-06-10 21:13:00 I wouldnt get any DX10 card now. Get a 7600GT or 7900GS, and wait it out for those new cards. I don't know how good the next gen cards will be, but I am dissapointed in the current DX10 cards! mejobloggs (264)

Mate, I would never recommend SLI unless you require more than the top of the range card can deliver as in 30" LCD etc.

SLI although always getting better, is never a better alternative than a single powerful card....period.

557440 2007-06-11 05:28:00 thanks the responses im a bit against waiting it out for new products to come out as no doubt when they do there will be another even better release to wait for then too. how long am I looking at waiting for the next range of dx10 cards to come out? cos i really dont want to have to keep using my rubbish laptop any longer than needs be. so it would seem that nvidia still the way to go over ati?
