2007-06-11 12:27:00 | Or am I missing something? Have updated bios, have fiddled everything.. Many scenarios.. Have task manager running... 1) USB ..plug in ipod video.. Itunes hangs on start ..start itunes..plug in ipod video... itunes hangs 2) Firewire ..plug in 3g ipod... starts itunes... and does not hang ..start itunes plug in 3g ipod fine also. 3) Swap ipod round.. of course ipod video doesnt work on firewire.. so no test 3g Hangs on USB as in 1) above both. 4) Change USB ports 3 times same thing... Thus I have come to the conclusion that USB + ipod = crap under vista ultuimate. I tried to download & install the patch fom MS # Windows6.0-KB936824-x86, but failed as it is for the media center version of vista which ultimate has built in anyway (I think). So I have no real shortcut around this issue... and it appears that between MS+Apple little is being done about it. Anyone found a shortcut/solution/workaround? Whats yamipod like? thanks

2007-06-12 00:27:00 | not to mention the installer for itunes is 36MB compared to say Winamp's 5-10MB and installs quicktime with its "nagware" all over the place - never have i used such an over bloated load of bollocks - also the fact you HAVE to use if if you own an ipod :yuck: | MAC_H8ER (5897) | |

Winamp supports Ipods (and a few media players), by default now. Its only if u want to sync calendars and contacts (unless u find something else), that u need Itunes. And maybe if u want to upgrade the firmware on an Ipod. Or enable an Ipod as a disk. |

2007-06-12 05:32:00 | can someone tell me how talk about a crappy Music Player turns into a jab at a operating system? :stare: I Might say vista is crappy but i haven't used it myself so i cant talk  besides Nvidia have sorted their driver issues so Vista Sounds good to me :D | MAC_H8ER (5897) | |
2007-06-12 05:46:00 | It was just the mention of an app being bloated. From what I have heard iTunes and seen when downloading the 2 versions iTunes for Windows is definitely bigger than iTunes for Mac OS. I have read of a number of issues regarding the iPod and Vista so it may take Apple a while to get the problem properly sorted. They are not known for dishing out info regarding progress on patches or system updates.
