| 557984 | 2007-06-10 23:11:00 | I have a mate who is having trouble installing Flight Sim X When you put the DVD in setup fails to start - you just get an error msg about setup.exe has created an error. You never actually get to the install screen. The system is all new ( XP Pro /SP2 / AMD4200+ / 2gb / 320SATAII / GF7600256 etc ) We thought the DVD drive might be faulty but it reads other DVD's fine, and installs other software no problem. We thought the DVD might be faulty so tried the it in another PC and it loads fine. We tried installing in Safe-Mode (admin) but gives error 1602 - (User is admin as well) We have tried everything in the MS support page support.microsoft.com any ideas? |

| 557987 | 2007-06-12 04:19:00 | OK problem solved: Just incase someone else has this issue I will spill the beans... Make sure your CD/DVD/RW drives are hooked up using an ATA133 IDE cable not the old 40pin ATA66 cable......... Thats it! - It seems some modern self loading DVD's wont execute if the old style cable is used.. Could also be something to do with a late-model mobo not liking the old 66 cable as well. Swapped the cable out for an ATA133 IDE strap and all works as intended. |
